Anita Piss, star of RuPaul's Drag Race UK Season 8, took the most famous meat dress in pop and cooked it.

It started with Gaga's meat dress, which Anita saw in person at the Vegas residency in 2019. Plenty of versions have followed since, and none of them, to Anita's eye, had found a new edge. The brief she set was gross, disgusting and glamorous all at once.

Anita built the wig herself, a high pony with the ends dyed by hand, and brought in Luke Slyka to make the dress. Bacon was Luke's idea. Gaga wore it raw, Anita wears it cooked, and that one change pushes the idea further than anyone had taken it.

Luke patterned the dress on Anita using the cling film method, then built it from layers of latex glue and sealant, painted to read as streaky bacon. Colour, depth and texture went on a layer at a time, with separate strips of fat added so every rasher looks properly cooked. The handbag got a little snout which Anita could use in front of her face instead of using a prosthetic in her make up.

Up close it is wearable art, and startlingly realistic. Anita feels it didn't get the credit it deserved on the runway, and she is proud to have gone down a completely different route to every other queen up there. She designed and made the set for the shoot too.

Anita is a massive fan of Luke's work, so anyone wanting a piece of their own should commission one.
